US PRESIDENT Donald Trump has weighed in on Melbourne terrorist Yacqub Khayre's deadly rampage via Twitter.
During
the president's latest morning Twitter storm, Mr Trump on Tuesday
retweeted a TV report about Khayre's attack that was aired on FOX News
channel in the US.The video was headlined: "FOX NEWS ALERT: ISIS claims responsibility for hostage siege in Melbourne, Australia that killed 1 person and injured 3 cops".
The 33-second video, which included footage of the shoot-out, reported that the 29-year-old gunman, an Australian of Somali heritage, had previously been acquitted of a terror plot.
Mr Trump has been criticised for his use of Twitter, particularly when he has commented on terror attacks around the world.
In the aftermath of the weekend London terror attack, Mr Trump used Twitter to target London Mayor Sadiq Khan.
"Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his "no reason to be alarmed" statement," Mr Trump wrote on Monday. "MSM (mainstream media) is working hard to sell it!"
In Tuesday's Twitter storm where he fired off eight in several hours, Mr Trump defended his use of social media.
"The FAKE MSM is working so hard trying to get me not to use Social Media," he wrote. "They hate that I can get the honest and unfiltered message out."
